The Walcha Country Energy team has been named as one of the best.
The local crew were recently recognised as the best performing team for their division in an internal Country Energy Competition known as the Field Service Centre (FSC) Challenge Cup, and at the same time they were also awarded most improved.
Country Energy’s Walcha team leader, Barry Hoad, said the Walcha team worked extremely hard to win the competition, and that he was proud of the team’s achievements.
In addition to the recognition, the team received a trophy, and to donate to a charity of their choice, a combined total for the two awards, of $6000.
“We made up a list of what we thought would be worthy organisations and then had to narrow it down.
“There are so many worthy causes in Walcha, so we decided to split the award in three so that more people could benefit.
“The team decided to give $2000 to the Walcha Hospital Auxiliary, $2000 to the Friends of Riverview, and $2000 to the Walcha Support Group of the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service,” Mr Hoad said.
Kate Hoy representing the Walcha Hospital Auxiliary, Pat Laurie from Friend of Riverview and Hazel Cameron from the support group received the money at a small ceremony yesterday.
