Campaign to cut out alcohol

18 Sep, 2009 05:00 AM
Ocsober is an exciting national web-based fundraiser that challenges Australians to “Cut Out” alcohol for one month - during October - to help educate children about the effects of drugs and alcohol.

Life Education’s Healthy Harold, and Northern NSW community development officer, Maggie Barnewall presented Member for Northern Tablelands Richard Torbay with his Ocsober Ambassador pin and certificate last Saturday.

Becoming an Ocsober legend takes just a couple of minutes to sign up on-line at www.ocsober.com.au

The money raised will go to Life Education Australia, the largest non-government provider of drug and health education to Aussie kids.

In the Northern Tablelands electorate Life Education has been visiting primary schools for over 25 years with over 4,500 children participating in the program annually.

“Ocsober will not only help you feel better but you’ll also be helping more children in your local community to be healthy, responsible citizens,” said Mr Torbay.

“Life Education has for many years done a wonderful job informing young people and giving them skills to make informed choices for the rest of their lives.

“I am thrilled to be able to make this very small sacrifice to help that work continue.”

In NSW more than 300,000 children participate in the Life Education program each year.
