Planning is full steam ahead for the Walcha Relay for Life in September.
The money raised will go towards cancer research and organising committee spokeswoman Vicki McIvor said the event was an opportunity for everyone to fight cancer.
Mrs McIvor said teams of 10 to 15 people will walk and make it 24 hours of fun for a good cause.
“Registration forms can be picked up and dropped off, with your team registration fees, to Gemma Clarke, at the Walcha Tourist Information Centre,” Mrs McIvor said.
“Early bird registrations - those who get the forms to Gemma by July 24 - go into the draw for the chance to win the Fleet Helicopter ride over the Gorge, for two, as your fundraiser.
“Larissa Wall, Kate Mackaway, Haidee Bird and Karen Boyd are the entertainment committee, for participants.”
Mrs McIvor said Jo Relf and Marlene Cotton would promote cancer prevention, encouraging people not to smoke, especially at the Relay for Life.
She encouraged participants to send Carolyn Salter verses, quotes, and images of nature for the candlelight ceremony.
“Although the money raised, goes to the Cancer Council, it is bought back to the town in many ways including research, counselling services for patients and their families, telephone support services, advertising, literature, bowel screening, and more,” Mrs McIvor said.
“The Lions Club will be in charge of catering, please call Alex Smith on 6777 2195 if you have thoughts of Foods for fundraising at the event.”
The event will be held from 10am on September 19.
