After months of preparation the Relay For Life will kick off at 10am this Saturday with 48 teams and about 630 participants.
One of the organisers Vicki McIvor said there had been a number of fundraisers.
“I believe they were all supported very well. There will be more fundraisers at the grounds on Saturday, with books, cakes, garage sale etc. so bring along lots of change in your pockets, and have a fun 24 hours,” she said.
A “Miss Relay” for the blokes will be held on Saturday night and there will be food and drinks around the ground during the relay.
Mrs McIvor said survivors and carers, need to be ready at 9.30 for the lap of honour.
“Remember, no alcohol on the track, and no dogs on the ground. Also, it’s not too late to give Kim Sampson a photo for the memory board, or if you bring it on the day, please make sure it is a copy,” she said.
“Wear comfortable shoes, a hat, sunscreen, and drink plenty of water, have warm clothing for the night and I hate to say this, but you better put in your raincoat, just in case.
“Have fun and thank you all very much for the wonderful support that you are not only giving to people in our own town, but to all people who are affected by cancer and survivors of cancer.”
Team tents will be set up tomorrow and Ron Denham has the plan.
Raffle books need to be handed in to Kate Hoy before the relay.
