An inspiration award was given to Cathy Brennan last Wednesday at the annual Walcha Support Group (WSG) luncheon.
“Cathy spoke at one of our meetings about her personal journey through illness, which was an inspiration to everyone in attendance,” said WSG Co-Facilitator Carolyn Salter.
“Cathy battled with three life threatening conditions concurrently and no one expected her to live, however
she has come through and is now not only living normally, but living well.”
Cathy was surprised to receive the award, which has never been given before.
Certificates of appreciation were also given to local organisations that have helped the WSG throughout the year.
“We also have many individuals who support us which we greatly appreciate as with this help and help from various organisations we are able to assist many more people in our community,” said Mrs Salter.
“We do not give out individual certificates as some of our sponsors wish to remain anonymous.”
After lunch resident raconteur Ruth Cotterill OAM entertained the crowd with some amusing stories and poems.
“We had about 45 people come along and I think everyone enjoyed the good food and company,” said Mrs
Salter.
