Seniors Week will be held from 18 to 25 March, 2012 and four activities in the Northern Tablelands will share $3000 funding.
The grants include $500 to Walcha Council for its ‘Celebrate with Dance, Song, Theatre and Poetry’ activity.
The rest of the grant funding goes to Guyra, Tenterfield and Inverell according to local MP Richard Torbay.
“We should celebrate seniors and the important contribution they make to our lives,” he said.
“The majority of people undertaking volunteer roles in our community are seniors and I would dread to think how we would go without their commitment.”
The MP said he would continue to press the government to allocate more funding for events in all centres in the Tablelands in the future.
