Collectively the public schools in the Walcha region have been part of a national first in the completion of their Building the Education Revolution grant projects.
The Minister for Education and Training, Verity Firth said NSW was the first state to complete $287 million in works undertaken as part of the National School Pride component of the Australian Government’s Building the Education Revolution.
So far 2179 projects have been undertaken in public schools to refurbish existing infrastructure and provide new minor building works.
Across Walcha the following projects have been completed:
Walcha Central School’s refurbishment ($150,000) included interactive whiteboards, data, cabling, projector, floor coverings, fencing and lockers.
Yarrowitch Primary School ($50,000) including playground equipment, re-cabling, a data projector, furniture, fencing and painting.
Nowendoc Primary School’s ($50,000) refurbishment included floor coverings, repairs and painting.
Kentucky Primary School spent $50,000 to upgrade outdoor seating, and security (locks, windows/doors) carpeting and wet areas, and supply new interactive whiteboards.
