Seventy-five keen gardeners made their way to the annual Walcha Garden Club (WGC) spring luncheon last weekend to enjoy a delicious meal, the company of fellow horticulturists, buy plants and listen to the guest
speaker.
Robert Griffin from Cooramilla Nursery near Blayney spoke about his love for the tough perennials, which survive the severe climatic conditions of his region.
He advised the group that these extreme weather patterns were roughly the same as those of the Walcha area.
Mr Griffin also brought along a range of his favourite plants to sell and was rushed as soon as he finished
speaking.
Concerns by the organising committee that following the Cooramilla Nursery stampede, the fund raising WGC plant stall would be under patronised, proved to be unwarranted and while the total is still to be tallied, a record amount of over $1,000 is expected.
