A total of 1300 people attended the meeting on Friday while 800 went along to Saturday’s event.
After a washout last year and Equine Influenza the previous year, everyone was keen to enjoy a successful day and the Walcha Jockey Club (WJC) worked hard to ensure this was the case.
“We had a number of working bees leading up to the meeting,” club secretary Kevin Ferrier said.
“Everything was spot on -everyone worked really hard to make this a bumper carnival, and the track was in perfect condition.”
The most coveted races of the day the Ron Martin Memorial Maiden plate and Walcha Cup were won by Little Vicki and Tocapitalize
respectively.
On ly two local horses ran a place in the two-day meeting. Nivison family-owned Not for Publication won the first race on Friday and, after a bad start, the the Wauch family’s I Love Legs ran third in the sixth event.
Both were good results given the WJC received record nominations for the race
meeting.
“We received 181 nominations for the eight races on Friday, and 79 for the five race Saturday meeting,” Mr Ferrier said.
