With over a decade of gift buying experience for Walcha’s local gift store we thought Christine Hamel would be well qualified to offer some advice on shopping for your friends and family this Christmas.
Here are her tips:
o Buy something you like - you are giving a part of yourself.
o Most ladies love bath and shower gifts that pamper and smell gorgeous. If you are a busy mum, 15 or 20 minutes alone in the bathroom without any interruptions and a yummy body product, can do wonders for frazzled nerves.
o Listen and look for subtle and not so subtle hints from those you are buying gifts for.
o Remember you don’t have to spend a lot, put some thought into your giving - consider age, sex and living circumstances.
o Have presents gift wrapped. The anticipation of a beautiful wrapped gift is part of the occasion.
o Do a scouting trip if possible before you need to buy, especially if you are unsure as sometimes that ‘special thing’ will jump out at you.
o Do NOT leave gift buying to the last minute especially at Christmas, it just adds pressure. And finally, it’s nice to give someone something they want, rather than something they need.
