More of Forest Way to be sealed

06 Aug, 2010 06:09 PM
Walcha Council will re-allocate $80,000 of Road to Recovery (R2R) funding from the replacement of the timber bridge over Eleven Head Creek to seal 700m of Forest Way.

Council provided $220,000 from the 2009/10 R2R funding for replacement of the bridge on the Brackendale Road.

Work on the project is now complete with the final cost being more than a third less than anticipated.

The R2R administration has been asked to carry the funds forward to the already approved project of sealing Forest Way. The estimated cost of sealing the next section of Forest Way (1.4km to 2.1km) is $110,000.

There is also a possibility that there will be some savings on the other 2009/10 R2R project to repair McHattans Bridge which could provide the additional $30,000

needed.

These savings will be identified before Council commences work on Forest Way later this year.
