A THIEF was disturbed breaking into the Walcha Sports Club at about 1.30am last Friday morning. After forcing entry to the club in Hamilton street the would-be thief was disturbed and dropped the frozen rolled roast pork and two bottles of spirits that had been stolen from the premises. If any one has any information about the incident, please call the Walcha Police Station on 6777 2244.

A local vehicle was stolen some time between midnight last Wednesday and 7am the following morning. The stolen vehicle had the key left in the centre console. It was then taken for a joy ride and used for circle work at the golf course, John Oxley oval and Walcha Central School before being used to ram some letterboxes and wheelie bins at Sillwood Close. The vehicle was abandoned at Sillwood Close. If anyone has any information about the incident or who took the vehicle, please call the station.

As part of a State-wide anti drinking campaign, Walcha Police will be increasing random breath testing from midnight today. So if you plan a night out, plan to have a designated driver.

A 20-year-old man from the Newcastle area handed himself in at the Walcha Police Station this week. He was wanted for outstanding warrants relating to five pursuits and failure to pay for offences from Newcastle to Moree. He handed himself in after his car broke down. He was arrested and taken to Tamworth where he will face 13 charges.

Also, a reminder that this weekend is the Police Bowls Day. So far the response has been disappointing. All funds raised will go towards Walcha Central School, so why not get a team together and join in.
