A relief for Jim Nivison on Monday as Notforpublication greeted the judge in first place.
Notforpublication has been a little up and down with his form but continues to impress with his trackwork giving the impression all is well.
Notforpublication put his best foot forward on Monday however, scoring a dogged win that had ‘back me again next start’ written all over it.
Jim would certainly be relieved with the win as the cost of training a horse these days is fairly prohibitive.
Notforpublication sat off the pace for the better part of the journey taking the lead 200m out and denying all efforts to run him down.
Former Walcha Rugby League coach and commercial hotelier Barry Condon and his wife and family were ecstatic with the win of Hume at Eagle Farm on Saturday.
Barry was a very popular figure in Walcha but alas most of us were unaware that he had a starter in the group one race in Brisbane. Paying the good odds of $18 it was a good result for those who did know about Hume and there were a few!
Olivia Grace owned by breeder Norm Bazeley, Alan Green and Brenno ran her usual honest race at Morphetville last week. Coming off a last start second Olivia Grace was expected to run well by the boys but alas she got too far back in the run giving them a huge start before running on late to finish just outside the placegetters.
Olivia Grace however did not do her admirers any harm as the run was a good one.
Another Norm Bazeley bred neddy went around at Kyneton on Tuesday and also ran well to finish a nice second to a horse called the Sharkie (GO THE SHARKS).
Falvero too has a bright future and a win is not too far away for the Son of Falvelon.
The proposal to merge the AJC and STC is a debate that is raging at the moment but is not new in racing circles. Without knowing the full extent of the proposal I am at liberty to comment. However it is not a new debate on the racing scene and one that will go on for a while yet.
Changes to the scheme of distribution have meant that there is less money available for country racing this year but we will still have good prize money on offer for our race meeting in February next year.
Our finances are sound at the moment and we would be the envy of a lot of clubs that are struggling.
