FORMER Niangala school student and part time Cowsby Road resident Casey Stoner proved he is the King of Phillip Island when he won his third successive Australian Motorbike Grand Prix last Sunday. He finished the 27-lap race less than two seconds ahead of arch rival and world champion Italian Valentino Rossi in an exciting finish.

CONGRATULATIONS to Jan Crawford and Joan Poole on winning the Walcha ladies golf open last Sunday after surviving a five-way countback including runners up Sheila Faulkner and Margaret Davidson after they all finished on +8. Well done to sisters Donna Martin and Cheryl McDonald who took out the scratch with -7 ahead of runners up Julie Hoad and Maree Townsend.

BY all accounts U15 Country Rugby representatives Thomas Martin and Alexander Laurie found out they were involved in a couple of games of footy in the Cook Islands last week. According to Alex’s mother Lindy the opposition teams were not only bigger but also older and there weren’t a lot of rules to abide by.
