All the hard work Michelle has put in and the great support she has received from parents Merrin and Steve has paid off and now she is off to Brisbane for the National titles late in September.

Early next year 12-year-old Jack is off to New Zealand with an elite 12 member U16 squad to play in a four-day tournament.

SPORTS minister Keith McPherson reports that Kentucky are currently running 843rd on 2720 points in the Ashes Fantasy League. The other Walcha team Round Swamp are in 4097th position on 2433 points. The points system depends on how well your selected players go during each test but it is a good idea to check your final line up as a couple of players Stuart Clarke and Ian Bell (who were listed with the above teams) didn’t score too well - simply because they didn’t play. THE Walcha Rams have been relegated to second position on the Central North competition ladder after going down to Narrabri last Saturday at the Park. They will be hoping Inverell sink the Pirates this Saturday and they win all three remaining games themselves, away against Quirindi at home against Gunnedah and then away to the Pirates in the final round. Go the Rams.

THERE were a couple of hockey players enjoying a late lunch at Gloucester last Sunday on their way home after competing in a veteran’s tournament at Taree over the weekend. What Sonia O’Hara and Phillipa Lawrence weren’t enjoying was the stiffness in certain parts of their anatomy, which was restricting them from walking properly?

DESPITE very short notice the Uralla under 18s Rugby League team will be taking on Guyra here at the Park tomorrow at 7pm. Half the team consists of Walcha players and they would appreciate your support if you can possibly make it to cheer them on. Its been quite a while since a ‘senior’ league game has been played here under lights so come on down and have a look. It is hoped full canteen facilities will be available.
