LAST Monday Walcha Central School student Andrew Brennan won the North West Primary School Golf Championships in Armidale after shooting 94 off the stick. The 11-year-old finished 10 shots ahead of his nearest rival when he managed a better finish than his third place last year.

THE big news when Walcha cricket resumed last week was a hat trick by Colts left arm medium pacer Mark Berry, which finalised the match against Bowling Club. Needing just seven runs to win with three wickets in hand Bowling Club were in with a reasonable chance until the Colts veteran rattled the timberwork of Hyde Thomson and Dean Sweeney before trapping Leigh Savory LBW with successive deliveries.
