Ridden by premier jockey Greg Ryan, George thought his chances were blown on the turn where Heeseatoff was last but his gloom soon turned to joy when Ryan sooled Heeseatoff down the outside to claim victory on the line.
The victory was one of the best on the day and points to many more in store. George has a big string nominated for Tamworth on Friday at Tamworth with the Grafton carnival soaking up the better class horses it is an ideal time to chase a win or two in the local area.
Kay Beas Lad coming off a last start win at Gunnedah will be closely watched by Amanda and Dave Murrell who have only had him for two starts following their purchase of the ex Victorian.
George also has Maboots, The Captains Wife and Prize entered on the Tamworth program.
The Captains Wife ran a nice third at Gunnedah last start and the run was a pointer of a win not too far away.
Zeelmaster is an unknown commodity and is coming back from a spell following his unplaced run at Walcha. Mark Taylor will be hoping Kalahari Princess can improve on her last start third at Tamworth on Friday.
A win by Kalahari Princess Would be a welcome change of luck for Mark who puts a tremendous amount of time into his race horses and at the same time looking after Tamac stud.
Walcha will be well represented at the Grafton Carnival on Wednesday where Tim, Jane, Ted and Tig Fenwicke will be hoping He’s Dreamin’ can continue his winning run following his impressive performance at Muswellbrook last start.
All indications are He’s Dreamin’ will handle the 2200m okay as the longer the races get the better he seems to go.
Colleen Green will be cheering from the bleaches for Sweet Feet. Colleen and her all female syndicate have a good chance with Sweet Feet who is definitely up to the class of the Grafton race.
There will also be a huge interest on Brave Ali in the coveted Grafton Cup. Brave Ali is owned by a popular Armidale syndicate of which well known jockey club identities in Jim Dedes and Rod Watt are members. Brave Ali has a very good local following of punters who have reaped the benefits of his recent good form.
