Tim, Jane, Tig and Ted Fenwicke would have been elated with the win of He’s Dreamin’ last Wednesday at Grafton. Following hot on the heels of his last start Musswellbrook win, He’s Dreamin’ once again proved he is a true stayer with his 2200 metre win.
Sitting in second last place for the major part of the trip, He’s Dreamin’ put in his customary finishing burst to record a half length win and has assured his future as a stayer.
George Woodward continued his winning association with the Grafton track on Sunday when Prize, starting at the juicy odds of $21.60, held them all at bay to win the last on the program. Prize was having his first start for the stable at Gunnedah two weeks ago where he finished fourth.
The run was obviously better than it appeared as Prize never looked like losing. Prize was trained by Darren Smith on the Central Coast before falling foul of the stewards and suffering a suspension.
Darren was a top class trainer and trained a host of winners during his career which one hopes he can continue following his fulfilment of his suspension.
Amanda and Dave Murrell shouldn’t be disappointed with the run of Kay Beas Lad at Tamworth on Friday. Although he finished last, he was only three lengths off the winner and the race was that closely contested. The first seven horses finished within a length of the winner.
Great to see Mark Taylor back in the winner’s circle on Friday at Tamworth with Kalahari Princess.
The win would be a welcome change of luck for Mark following the lean run he has had, not to mention the loss of his dad and racing stalwart Geoff.
Kalahari Princess has always shown ability but has had a form slump. She seems to be back in the right frame of mind again however and here’s hoping the run can continue for the stable.
Congratulations also to Jill Nivison and trainer Craig Martin on the win by Jefferson Park on Saturday at Doomben.
The Walcha Cup winner has also returned from a spell in good nick and Saturday’s win was greeted with cheers all round from the followers of the locally owned neddies at the Newie.
