Former club champion Irwin Brazel, who won the title in 1981, was the overall winner of the Community Mutual New England credit union stroke medal last Sunday and received a trophy donated by Doug McDonald after he carded a 64 nett.

Great grandfather John Mann shot a 79 off the stick, three strokes under his age to take out A grade with a 69 nett, Brazel won B grade and Anthony Uren collected the C grade mug with 69 nett.
Sweepstakes went to club president Allan Green 67, Max Holstein 69, Jon Izzard 70 and Andrew Rrobertson 70.
Sharpest shooters at the pins were Jon Izzard (1), Irwin Brazel (3), John Mann (9), Max Holstein (16), Andrew Robertson (18) while Will Brennan played the most accurate second shot on seven and Jon izzard on 14.
The scratch section went to Tim Beaumont after he registered 77 off the beater while the long drive, sponsored by ‘Backhand Larry’ , was won by Simeon Cross (A), Irwin Brazel (B) and Lachie Fletcher (C).
In match play, Tim Beaumont rounded up John McLaren 8 and 6, Lachie Fletcher downed Andrew Robertson 3 and 2, Doug McDonald got the job done against Mal Ballard 3 and 2.
Luke Brennan engaged his flat stick on 21 occasions to win the putting competition, whereas Col Higgins averaged two jabs per hole to collect the coveted ‘pink shirt’ for most putts with 36.
Last Saturday Max Holstein won the veterans nine hole competition after accumulating 17 stableford points to finish two points clear of both John McLaren and John Mann who received sweepstakes balls.
In the ladies division Vicki Heffernan also won with 17 points while Liz Elder and Margaret Higgins picked up sweepstake prizes on 13 points.
This Sunday is the annual Town v Country event with Max Holstein supplying the trophy.
