The Walcha Rams took on a tough Magpies side last weekend in Tamworth for their last regular round game before the finals.

The Rams came out all cylinders firing seeing the backline slice through the Magpies defence and allowing Richard Young to cross over for the Rams first try.
A seesaw affair saw the Magpies score two quick tries before the Rams hit back through some enterprising rugby which culminated with Sam Martin crashing over for the Rams second.
The first half finished up with the Rams down 21 – 12 and regretting their missed opportunities.
The second half started just as quick as the first one with some exciting rugby being played by both sides.
A lop-sided penalty count saw the Rams continually get marched down the paddock, after some strong defence the Rams conceded back to back tries. A resurgence towards the end of the match saw Simon Newton and Richard Young cross for two late consolation tries to add some respectability to the score board which finished at 39–24.
Strong performance by Simon Newton 3, Samuel Martin 2, Nat Brazel 1 were of note. Despite the loss the Rams finish as Minor Premiers which is a great effort.
The recent Ladies Day produced a fantastic effort with the Walcha Rugby Club raising $1,500 for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter. The Rams would like to thank everyone who made the day possible.
So what’s next rugby fans … Walcha has two weeks off and are most likely to play Scone on the Sunday, of August 31, at Walcha at 3pm
If the Rams win they will go through to the grand final which will be held in either Tamworth or Narrabri on Saturday September 13.
If the Rams lose they will host the final at Walcha on Sunday, September 7 against the winner of the Magpies – Barraba match.
