Wonderful rain over the last week but it played havoc with the racing scene as many meetings were washed out due to unsafe surfaces.

Last Wednesday on the Kensington circuit He’s Dreamin’ put in another sterling performance over the 2500 metre journey.
He’s Dreamin’ copped more bad checks than the Commonwealth Bank. He’s Dreamin’ was hampered in the run on more than one occasion and was doing his best work late to finish third, just 2.3 lengths from the winner.
Jockey James McDonald was full of praise with the run and was certain he should have finished a lot closer to the finishing than he did.
He’ Dreamin’ holds his form well and is a good bet every time he starts.
One that has gone under the radar on me is the Locke and King families’ Turning Grey. Turning Grey’s mother Home Turn won the Ron Martin Memorial maiden when raced by parents Ted King and Bill Borthwicke.
The family decided to breed and race from the mare and Turning Grey is the result.
Home Turn possessed great speed and it seems that Turning Grey has inherited some of that ability.
Turning Grey won his maiden at Coonabarabran two starts ago and backed that up with another Class 1 win at Inverell last Saturday.
Although racing in minor company, Turning Grey has shown he is ready to step up to TAB class races in the near future.
George Woodward nearly pulled off yet another long shot winner at Tamworth with Dixie Miss.
Dixie Miss put in a very encouraging run coming from 10th at the 400 after being shuffled back from sixth at the 800 to go down narrowly to the favourite on the line.
The price for Dixie Miss to me was flattering and she went into the race carrying really good form.
George will have a four-pronged attack at Armidale on Saturday with Maboots, Devoted Prosecutor, Kay Beas Lad running and Dixie Miss will try to emulate her effort at Tamworth.
