IT really is a small world sometimes. During recent times Lisa Hunt was in New York minding her own business in an elevator when she heard someone say ‘hello Lisa’. When Lisa turned around there was her former schoolmate Quentin Dillon with a big smile on his dial and in America of all places.

JUST the other day ‘Linwood’ grazier Janelle Brennan received a phone call from local sheriff Anthony Smith who wanted to speak to her husband Willy. After Smithy informed Janelle who the caller was, there was no way she was having any of it replying ‘yes Coog of course it is’ or words to that effect. Apparently Janelle our voices must sound the same and the other thing we do have in common is a love of the Sea Eagles.
DIDN'T Parramatta supporters come out of the woodwork last Saturday after the Eels gave the Sea Eagles a touch up the night before? Roos co-coach Peter Berry prepared a seat for me in his car for the trip to Kootingal by draping a Parra towel over where I was to sit. Back rower ‘Chocy’ Laurie was full of cheek about the Eels’ win but unfortunately for him and ‘Perc’ they didn’t select their team when filling out their footy tips.
ROOS front rower Max Abraham pulled off the gamest gamble of the season when he bet his brother and injured team mate Jock, a rack of long necks, on the result between his Eels and Jock’s Eagles. No big deal really except Manly was leading 12-0 when Max initiated the wager.
ONE day last week the Essential Energy employees Adam Dark and Glenn Olrich left a work ute at Pat Stace’s workshop to be checked over for a pink slip. Around lunch time Adam and workmate Luke Brennan went back out to ‘Beaver Place’ to pick the vehicle up. Nothing strange about that but read on.
LATER in the day a few of the boys were standing around the above mentioned ute when Glenn suggested to ‘Spud’ that they head back out and pick up the ute they had left at Pat’s place earlier in the day. On arrival ‘Dakka’ was concerned he couldn’t see the vehicle anywhere and turned to ‘Spud’ questioning where it may be. When Adam broke out in a cut watermelon smile Glenno immediately said ‘we are in it aren’t we’. ‘Spud’ just nodded.
WALCHA Ex-Services Club snooker president Adam Dark is fairly handy at most sports but met his match when he took on his good friend Arokia McDonald at ten-pin bowling on the Gold Coast recently. Apparently ‘Rokie’ handed out somewhat of a lesson to ‘Spud’ but he reckons he got his revenge earlier this week when he beat her at ‘UNO’. Yeah right good comeback Adam.
LAST week council tar truck operator Ted Stokes either was a little bit absent minded, didn't prepare well enough or was just making a fashion statement while taking a luncheon adjournment at the Tia River bridge. When asked about why he had his jumper on back to front, Ted was non committal with his answer but not even slightly concerned that it was.
BIG Wigs of the Week - Bowling Club: Brian Lockyer (if only his beloved Rabbitohs hadn’t lost); Prime Meats: Clint Lyon, Brian Wellings; Newie: John Maloney; Essential Energy: Adam Dark (all 14 points); Mountain Motors: Trevor Watson; W.V.S: Kyle Goodwin, Sarah Nivison, Bonnie Smith; W.E.S: Molly Kuhr (all 12 points); Apsley: Dave Baumer, John Bell, Wayne Brennan, Ruby and D.G.C, Ian Cameron, Jack O’Hara, ‘Viktor’ alias Lizzie (all 10 points).
NOT only can council engineer Matt Fanning hit a mean golf ball, he packs a fairly tidy esky as well. Without going into all the minute details Matt certainly amazed his council No 1 team mates ‘Bob’ Dylan Reeves and Jack O’Hara last Sunday at the Workplace Challenge along with their council No2 opponents Wayne Brennan (captain), Ron Wicks and A.J Cross. There is little doubt the ‘flower power’ thermos was the item that stole the show and went along way to securing the No1 squad the runners-up prize.
