Angus Kirton, Kirton Partnership, “Bilbrook”, Walcha said he was “over the moon” after selling 210 trade-weight, older lambs at the Tamworth Regional Livestock Exchange this week for a top price of $118 an average of $110.50/head.

Mr Kirton, (pictured with son and daughter, Henry and Claudia) said the lambs were out of superfine ewes and “would suit anyone”. They were purchased by Wallangarra and the selling agent was Simon Burke of Burke and Smyth.
The exchange is proving a good option for local graziers, with Denis Wall backing up to top the suckers at $132 for the second week running through Pitt Sons, Walcha.
Lambs sold to $138 (average $110), hoggets to $80 (average $70), ewes to $91.50 (average $72), wethers to $90 (average $68) and rams to $40 (average $23). Source: Livestock Exchange. The total yarding of 2858 included 155 wethers, 282 ewes and the balance lambs - well down on previous sales.
