It has been a little slow on the racing scene as the last two weeks would testify with little to write about.

This week we have a little more action with George Woodward once again leading the way with his stable. George travelled to Tamworth on Monday with Opera Blu and Dixie Miss. Opera Blu was having his first run back from a spell and acquitted himself well.
Opera Blu led for the major part of the journey but was run down on the line to go down narrowly to a pretty smart galloper in St Luke.
St Luke is trained by Luke Griffith and looks like developing into a pretty handy galloper so the half length second by Opera Blu was a very good pointer also to him coming back in fine fettle. Georges other starter Dixie Miss continues to perform consistently with a nice third after coming from fourth at the 400 metres finishing just ftwo lengths from the winner.
George also won an award in the H and WDRA with Minimos being the most consistent galloper at the Tamworth circuit. Unable to be at the awards night, George was presented with the trophy at the Tamworth meeting on Monday.
Jill Nivison’s Deedles contested the maiden over the 1400 metre journey and the run was the best of the day. Deedles came from 10th at the 800 in the field of 12 and was just over a length short of victory. The run would suggest that Deedles is definitely going to get better as the races get longer.
The other Walcha interest Turning Grey looked as though he is in need of a break with his fading run over the 1000 metre trip.
Turning Grey led from the outset but was run down over the concluding stages.
The margin of 2.2 lengths however indicates that he still has a future. His recent run of wins puts him up there with the most consistent gallopers going around.
The winner of the race Just Cooking is no slouch and ran a very good race in a Ron Martin Memorial maiden indicating her ability at that point.
