Missed last week’s column as my memory let me down badly. I remembered the column just this side of Armidale, however I will try and catch up with that news this week.

Melbourne Cup week proved to be a boon for Walcha owners. Leading the charge at Musswellbrook was Peter and Helen Wauch with Star Of Legs.
Star of legs showed a lot of promise when first in work and has carried that promise forward. On Cup day at the Brook Star Of Legs put in a solid performance coming from fourth on the turn to win running away.
Star Of Legs backed that up on Tuesday at Quirindi by scoring another nice win again. Star Of Legs is another by the very good sire Youthful Legs who sired his half brother I Love Legs.
Melbourne Cup day again this time at Tamworth where the mother and daughter combination of Jill and Kate Nivison tasted success. Kate was first cab off the rank where her syndicated neddy Reinette scored an easy victory. Reinette gave nothing else a chance with his victory another for the families good stallion Dream Ballad.
Trainer Craig Martin created a first two race double with Jill’s horse Deedles. Deedles has also been a model of consistency and also looks to have a big future with his win on Cup day.
The Locke and King families would have been pleased with the run of Turning Grey at Quirindi on Monday.
Jockey Peter Graham jumped Turning Grey out to an early lead which increased to a three length advantage over his rivals. Turning Grey continued to run them ragged, fading slightly on the line to go down narrowly to the favourite.
