Playmate is a relative newcomer to the stable but indicated his ability by leading and hanging on well for third. George then took Minimos to Armidale on Tuesday. Minimos was having his first run back from a spell and during the running you could be excused for thinking he had no possible chance.
Minimos raced in last place all the way and at one stage was 12 lengths from the lead but I must say a brilliant ride by Kate Furness who secured a run along the rails saw him blow them away at the finish to win going away. A very good win!
One for the little black book this week is Slydini. Slydini’s owners include Jim Nivison, James Tait and Matt Onslow. Slydini raced back in last place in the small field with favourite leading them a merry dance.
Slydini finished all over the top of them in the run to the line but found the 1000 metres too short. Any further and Slydini would have blown them away also.
Vengeance, however, for Jim and Matt together with Len Fenning and Cameron Martin on Friday at Mudgee when Wisen Up faced the starter.
Wisen Up was ridden by premier jockey Robert Thompson and he knew he had a lap full of horse after racing well back when he made his move on the turn into the straight. Responding like a good horse would, Wisen Up gave them a cold in the run to the line and he too is a horse to watch. Exciting times ahead for the Syndicate!
Talking about great rides, Molly Partridge starred with her ride at Taree on Tuesday when she steered Casino Swoop to a good win.
Mollie rode like a veteran coming off the rails just before the turn and she wasn’t afraid to go a little wide on the turn knowing the horse under her had some ability. Casino Swoop duly won and the ride scored a 10 out of 10!
