The University of New England (UNE) mountain bike track played host to the Inaugural Schools Invitational Mountain Bike Challenge last month, with over 80 students from across the region participating.

Walcha local Jack Feltham won the Under 19 male category.
Vice president of bike club, David Harris said competitors came from as far as Dorrigo to compete in a series of junior and senior races, organised by the New England Mountain Bikers Club.
“O’Connor Catholic College took out the honours on the day as the overall team winners,” he said.
“It was an amazing day of racing and congratulations to all of the school teams who rode in the event.
“It was great to see the kids encouraging each other along.”
The event was a first for the New England region, but organisers hope to make it an annual event.
Other results included - under 13 female Jemima Davis; under 13 male Nick Chisholm; under 15 female Isabella Hosking; under 15 male Fergus McQueen; under 17 female Katherine Hosking; under 17 male Michael Harris and under 19 female Nicole Lye.
