She will compete in the world championships in Camp Perry, Ohio in the USA in August.
She first made the NSW under-25 team last year.
She grew up on the family cattle property in the Walcha district and took up shooting while at New England Girls’ School in Armidale.
Rowena started small bore rifle shooting using .22 calibre rifles at NEGS in Year 7 before moving to long range full bore shooting using a .308 calibre rifle at distances up to 1000 yards.
Now studying for a Communications and Arts double degree at the University of Queensland Rowena has joined the Natives Rifle Club in Brisbane.
A regular on the rifle shooting competition circuit, she is focused on improving her scores and grades and plans a big year getting plenty of match practice before her first international event.
She attended the first Queensland open shoot for the year at Crows Nest, north of Toowoomba, last week where she finished strongly with a possible 50 score – 10 bullseyes out of 10 shots – on the final 500 yard range.
