Mr Anderson said since 2011, the government has been delivering funding to help regional growers, producers and businesses take the most direct and cost-effective route to transport goods.
“There’s nothing worse for a local economy than roads and bridges not being up to the task of carrying freight in an efficient and cost effective manner,” he said.
“I am very proud of the hard work carried out by Walcha Council to secure funding for these road projects in the region.
“Council must also be congratulated for contributing $150,000 to these projects, representing a genuine working partnership with the state government Mr Anderson said.
Under the Fixing Country Roads program, the following projects have been awarded funding:
Bergen Bridge Widening Thunderbolts Way: $1,000,000 from the NSW government and $100,000 from Walcha Council.
Bridge Assessments: load assessments of 29 timber bridges relevant to the livestock business, $170,000 in state government funding with $50,000 from Walcha Council.
Mr Anderson said this announcement is an example of the government working closely with local government to improve freight productivity in the electorate.
“With funding now available, work on these vital local infrastructure projects can start this year,” he said.
