Before this week there have been three meets where 47 times were bettered in week one, 74 were lowered in week two and then another 54 PBs were set last week.
Current swimmer of the week is Sammy Swain from the Rockhoppers group after he set PBs in all four strokes while the week before Toby Crawford was named S.O.T.W. after he did the same in the Chicks division.
Swimming Club is split into six groups Kings (the fastest) followed by Emperors, Whiteflipeprs and Adelies all over 50 metres with Rockhoppers and Chicks competing over 25 metres.
Each competition has to swim a qualifying time in at least two strokes before they can move up to the next level.
Formerly in Rockhoppers Ali Nivison did just that and has progressed to Adelies after improving her times enough to advance to 50 metres event.
Two Rockhoppers Jess Swanton and Tempe Onslow bettered their times in three strokes, Bella Mooney, Tahlia Bird, Ryley Smith and Millie Nivison all swum their best butterfly times in the same division, while Hamish Warden (back) and Freddy Muller (breast) also improved.
In Chicks, Katalia Murphy swam faster in three strokes for the second week in succession whereas Ella Jenkins went better in both free style and breastroke.
Three Emperors Amber Mackaway (fly), briar Eckford (breast) and Clarissa Chawner (back) all produced their best times this season.
Whiteflippers Janie Muller improved in three strokes, Lachie Greig and Thomas Micallef in tw,o whereas Abbey Mackaway, Cecilia Greig and Ashleigh Wall all got the job done in butterfly.
In the Adelies group Bella Crawford, Meg Kealey, Jock Fenwicke, Jack Power and Jess Wake all set personal best times in two strokes, while Simon Nivison, William Swain, Charlie McLaren and Charlotte Mooney went better in at east one stroke.
All times can be viewed on the ‘Colleen Cross’ notice board inside the front gate.
The great performances have spilled over from swimming club to school carnivals and now a number of swimmers have qualified for zone or regional championships, either with Walcha Central or St Patrick’s schools.
