There were record entries in the campdrafting and sporting events and the weather was picture perfect.
The day started with the maiden campdraft, which saw local cowboy Carl Green, riding Ruby, take out the event.
Next was the novice draft won by hard working committee man Peter Grills on Murmur.
Woolbrook local Kristy Lee Fogarty and Rockstar Babe took out the ladies campdraft.
The Juvenile was won by Toby King and the junior event by Hannah Dunn.
The sporting got underway with around 60 kids and adults participating.
Competition was fast and furious and some competitors were using the event as a warm up to the State Sporting Championships to be held this weekend.
Peter Grills topped off a great day by winning the Vic Robson Memorial Stockman’s Chop. Peter was pushed all the way be Carl Green but eventually experience proved the difference. Yarrowitch boy Sam Colwell took out the under 17 Stockman’s Chop and was also the winner of the Brady’s Saddlery highest cut out.
The John Stanton Trophy which is awarded for horsemanship, encouragement and sportsmanship was won by Nick Colwell.
When it came to dog racing there were dogs arriving from all parts of the ground and this provided some great entertainment for the crowd. Unfortunately no local dogs came out on top.
The day concluded with the final of the open campdraft, which saw Tim Hollis come out on top over two rounds with a score of 171. He was closely followed by former local Anthony Clare, Carl Green, Warren Richards and Bernie McMaugh.
The committee would like to thank Walcha Pony Club for running the sporting events, Mandy Wood for announcing, Mark Morris, Pat Gillis and Anna Guerinni for judging.
Thanks also to Gary Olrich for auctioneering; cattle donors Gary and Rhonda Olrich, Margaret and Bruce Davidson, Don and Robyn Scott, Daniel and Kylie Matthews and Ian and Lorraine Rennie; truck drivers Tim Laurie, Daniel Matthews and Ian Rennie and everyone who assisted on the day to make it a success.
