Jack, representing Walcha Central School, played as a centre and Cody, representing Farrier Memorial Agricultural High School, as hooker in the under 15s.
Over the three days, the boys - pictured - were competing for a spot in the NSW Combined High Schools team in their allocated positions of centre and hooker.
As the team hadn’t had the opportunity to train together, all the boys met at Toronto on Saturday to have a training session, which was mainly focussed on the boys learning each other’s names and running some plays.
The boys headed into camp at Myuna Bay on Sunday, where they set up for the next three days, were given their gear and allocated rooms with their team mates.
Greater Western played in three very tough games up against players who had already been contracted to NRL clubs and although both Jack and Cody performed well, they unfortunately missed out on selection.
This experience was a great opportunity for the boys who should get another crack in future years.
There is a junior club game scheduled for the Park, here in Walcha between Jack’s team the North Tamworth Bears and Cody’s team, Farrer, on July 18 when Walcha plays Quirindi.
Jack would like to hank his parents Steve and Jodi for their support as would Cody of his dad Les ‘Buck’ and mum Vicki ‘Boo’.
