Walcha is not immune to the problem and Sergeant Anthony Smith said he had no doubt Ice was in the community.
“We are too close to larger communities such as Tamworth, Armidale and Port Macquarie where its use and availability is prevalent,” he said.
“However at this time (and after speaking with the local ambulance staff) we are not seeing the affects of its use. Symptoms can be aggression, ‘superman strength’ and sores covering the face and body.”
The campaign highlights the critical role the community plays in helping police shut down drug supply.
Commissioner Andrew Scipione said the campaign will remind residents of NSW about the far-reaching effects one call to Crime Stoppers can yield.
“Please do not underestimate the immensely positive impact one anonymous call to Crime Stoppers can make,” he said.
“In September 2012, a single, anonymous call to Crime Stoppers led to the seizure of 585 kilograms of Ice. Make no mistake about it: this call stopped millions of deals from making it to the street, preventing untold harm, and, no doubt, saving countless lives.”
