It is so important that rural regional Australia does not lose this grass roots reporting that keeps locals informed and in touch with one another and the region at a broader level.
I am often surprised when catching up with ex-Walcharites that they know exactly what is happening here as they take the time to find out through social media and online news.
There is a large section of the community however that does not have access to or a desire to connect to online media and the fact they will still be able to purchase a hard copy paper is so important.
I have to say I enjoy the tactile experience of sitting down with a cup of tea and reading a paper paper!
However time moves on and the world is changing at a rapid pace creating a demand for options.
Certainly the Save Walcha Council campaigns success in rallying our community is a true indication of the ability for different forms of media spreading the word far and wide.
Walcha is a connected, vibrant community and would be disadvantaged without our local news.
I would like to thank the staff of the Walcha News for all you have done and for all you will continue to do under this new structure and delivery of news.
The Walcha community is very fortunate indeed to have you.
