Readers of this column would have been delighted if the paper was published a day earlier. We mentioned the Grafton Race meeting and the local interest at that meeting.
A good result ensued for locally owned horses with Norm and Di Bazeley’s Dynamic Balance, a horse purchased only three weeks ago from Victoria for breeding purposes, and was still in work when purchased, so Norm decided to see what she could do.
Dynamic Balance surprised everyone connected to the horse.
She missed the start by four lengths and won by four lengths! She raced at the back of the field, but turning for home, she exploded in the straight and had everyone in awe of the win including the race caller.
I don't think breeding is the foremost thing on Norm’s mind at the moment, as there are many wins in store for her. We mentioned Dream Folk and Allzin also last week, and although both were in the same race, they didn't disappoint.
Dream Folk started favourite in the race and ran In his customary role at the back of the field.
He also showed his customary racing pattern by sustaining a long run right around the field and was able to just hang on and beat Allzin, whose run was tremendous under the circumstances. Allzin is trained and raced by former Walcha mentor Graham Hoy in a syndicate.
Allzins run was probably one of the better runs of the day and ran Dream Folk to a very tight finish.
The Dream Folk syndicate were at it again on Sunday with Silver Albertiva. Silver Albertiva, like Dream Folk, races at the rear of the field and sustains a long run home.
This was the pattern on Sunday and he just ran out of race track at the finish to finish a creditable second.
George Woodward will be hoping for a change of luck at Moree today.
George will start Shinshin, Sugar Lane and will backup Zariz's Baby up for his second run this week after an unsuccessful trip to Narromine.
