The local butcher announced last week that he would be running again for council. With the retirement of Mayor Archdale, deputy Mayor Schmutter and Councillors Thomson, Woods and possibly Levingston; he is one of only a few to do so.
“I will once again be putting my hand up to serve in that capacity in the Local Government election in September,” he said.
“I feel the last four years have been an “apprenticeship” as I had much to learn about what is involved in being an effective Councillor. I would like to thank my fellow Councillor Robert Thomson for his guidance during this period.”
If he is re-elected Mr Lyon said he will continue to take a proactive approach and communicate the needs of Walcha ratepayers.
“Roads and bridges will still be high on my priority list but I also feel very strongly that we must push to get better mobile telephone coverage for this area,” Mr Lyon said.
“I believe Walcha has a great future and I trust the residents of B Ward will once again give me their support.”
