CONGRATULATIONS to the Walcha Rams on their 33-11 Central North semi final victory over the Inverell Highlanders here at the Park last Sunday. Scores were fairly even at half time before the home side asserted their authority in the second session to qualify for an elimination semi final against Moree at Weebollabolla Oval this weekend. WALCHA have won the Group 4 Second Division Ladies League Tag Minor Premiership after defeating Bendemeer 36 -10 here at the Park last Saturday. The Jillaroos have scored 382 points for so far this season while conceding just 66. They have received a forfeit from Quirindi this Saturday before taking on second placed Bendemeer in the major semi final the following weekend.
THE ROOS are currently equal with Manilla or 20 competition points with one round remaining and if they were to round up Quirindi this Saturday here at home they would also finish minor premiers due to a superior points for and against. There have been whispers that the game against Quirindi could be moved forward for a 2pm kick off.
A REMINDER that the annual Golf Workplace Challenge sponsored by the New England Hotel will be held on Sunday 28th August commencing with a shotgun start at 10.30 am. Nominations to be in by 10am and all teams are requested to be at the Clubhouse by that time. The format is three person ambrose so grab a couple of mates for a fun day out..
WALCHA Central School U/16s Touch Football and Rugby League 7s teams head to Dubbo next week to complete in the Central Schools State Finals. The squad consists of Sam and Beau Abraham, Alex Bruce, Daniel Boyd, John and Tom Donnelly, Morgan Dunn, Matt Patis-Hollis, Ossie Kahr, Jack McAllister, Kurt Gallagher and Brazden Bloomfield.
WALCHA drew their New England Division Soccer game at John Oxley sports ground with Armidale Westside 35s last Saturday but had to come from behind late in the game to tie up the contests 2 goals all. Matt Scott scored both goals with the equalizer coming just five minutes before the final whistle. This weekend Walcha travel to Guyra to take on the Caspers and then the following Saturday they are home to South Armidale United.
WELL DONE to the Armidale Junior Nomads who snatched victory from the Jaws of defeat in the final second of their match against Inverell Saints last Saturday at Bellevue Oval UNE Armidale. Morgan Dunn, James McGuffog, Nick Buckland and Brayden Bloomfield were the four Walcha members of the team while Jake Murray had to pull out of the match before the first ball up due to illness.
