FORMER Walcha resident Cameron Sweeney was back ‘home’ last weekend with his girlfriend Jade and was assisting his mother Debra move some gear out of the shed next door to my place in Apsley Street.

At one stage there was a hell of a commotion in the shed before Cameron jumped up on the back of the ute they were using before Debra joined him shortly after.
MEANWHILE Jade stayed on the ground to persuade the ‘killer’ possum that had endangered the lives of Cam and Deb to leave the building and run up a nearby pine tree.
Talking to Cameron a bit later he reckons the possum was looking that mean it was quite capable of ripping one of his arms off and that was the only reason he jumped up on the ute. His better half Jade disagreed.
The possum was looking that mean it was quite capable of ripping one of his arms off.
A couple of days earlier Cameron would have been able to borrow a cat trap off his old man Steph to catch the possum because ‘Gomez’ certainly had some at his disposal.
To his credit the ‘Golden Haired Wonder Child’ took the ‘Cat Trap’ prank in good spirits after it became obvious he knew he had been got late last week. If you don’t know the story catch up with Stevie for more information.
SAD to hear that former Walcha saddler Yarrowitch cricketer Tom Brady left this world earlier in the week. Condolences to Tom’s son Bernie along with all other family members.
DON’T know what my council workmate Andrew Strudwick had for lunch Wednesday last week but it must have been good.
After lunch the ‘Studmeister’ came strolling back into the North Street Depot and couldn’t find his work ute that being because he had driven into the depot car park at the start of lunch and left it there before driving his own vehicle down the street to purchase some well earned tucker.
When he returned ‘Struddy’ jumped out of his own vehicle and left the work ute in the depot car park but did return to get it shortly after, so he could return to the hard slog with yours truly.
HAVING never had to replace a water bottle on one of those H2O dispensers I wouldn’t know how to change the vessel but apparently when the bottle is screwed into the machine a sharp object pierces the lid and allows the water to flow into the dispenser.
By all accounts Shane Carter has a better idea than that because out at P.W Betts Transport he cuts the top off the lid before then attaching the bottle. Well that’s according to secretary Tracey Yarnold anway, but wouldn’t there be a certain amount of spillage.
STRATHLEIGH resident Hush puppies supporter and former Walcha Roos footballer Denis Yarnold experienced a few problems when he attempted to start the vehicle of his better half Tracey.
Equipped with an apparatus that returns the driver's seat to the position of the previous driver D.Y. found himself in trouble when the seat started to go forward and he couldn't stop it.
Denis reckons he got that close to windscreen before the seat stopped he had to tuck his nose into avoid breaking it.
THE Walcha Ex Services club are keen to sponsor some local sporting teams in the future and if you or your club is interested please contact Leanne Presnell or Anne Martin.
They are looking at supplying team shirts and there was even a suggestion of a free beverage after the game.
STILL on Anne, she is off to the Australian Under 55 Field Hockey Masters Championships early in October after being selected in the NSW team.
The tournament is being held in Hobart and although Anne has represented Tasmania has never played in that state but has completed in all the other states during her career.
There was a hint this may be Anne’s ‘Swansong’ due to a bit of wear and tear catching up with her in these latter years.
BIG WIGS of the week - Bowling Club - Crichton Barr, Mick Steep, Bec Hoy, Nicko and Grey Buckland, Gerry Moran, Newie - Wayre Breanna, Glenno Olrich, Paddles Chandler, Thomas Boyd, Jason Starr. West End Store - Mel Hawkins (all tipsters picked the card) Vet Supplies - Jason Scott, Kyle Goodwin, Peter King, Dion Bird, Sarah Nivison (all 14 points).
NEWIE Leader Jenny Hill looks like she is home and hosed currently sitting on 272 points but there still could be a bit of a battle to score the minor placings between Wendy Starr 260 Wayne Brennan 216 Berek Starr 212 and Victor Coulter 250.
Two rounds to go and then we will know.
THERE is nothing more frustrating than attempting to get a water pump to kick over and it won't play the game.
Come to think of it there are probably heaps more frustrating things than that but we aren’t going there this time around.
Last week a certain Council water cart driver was having trouble pumping water out of the McDonald River at ‘Mary Gray’ near ‘Boxley’ until he realised the kill switch was off instead of on.
NO need to know the identity of the relief water cart driver but you probably could find out off ‘Marinka’ grazier ‘Chook’ Kealey, grader pilot Lee ‘Pom’ Robinson or roller operator Chris Garrad.
At this stage they don’t know because I didn’t tell them.
