While the Walcha MPS will be welcoming a new visiting medical officer (VMO) in January, the retiring one will not be leaving his adjacent general practice.Dr Adrian Allen announced on Tuesday that he will stop working at the Walcha MPS next year.

“I want some more free time to enjoy my family, however, I will continue to work full time in the surgery with the other doctors,” he said.
“The GP facility will also be made available to the new doctor. We have a tremendous team and MPS service in Walcha. The quality of care the patients receive is something we are very proud of.”
Walcha Council general manager Jack O’Hara said that Council would be working closely with Hunter New England Area Health to assist in the recruitment of a new VMO in any way they can.
“Council wishes Dr Allen all the best in his retirement from the MPS,” said Mr O’Hara.
“The community has been extremely fortunate to have had a doctor of his ability, professionalism and dedication at the Walcha MPS for such a length of time.”
