They took part in a Milo Cricket exhibition during the lunch break on Day Two of the third Test between Australia and Pakistan and were fortunate enough to be right in front of the Members Stand.
An added bonus and to their surprise, Walcha junior players were selected to form the guard of honour for the Pakistan players as they returned to the field after the luncheon adjournment for the afternoon’s play.
As they were being admitted to the ground, the crew witnessed Mitchell Starc arriving, were able to see the new look Australian team in action firsthand, Matt Renshaw scoring his maiden Test ton, Peter Handscome racking up his second century and then later in the day watch local boy Josh Hazlewood send some thunderbolts down.
The kids were also lucky enough to get some autographs from some of the commentators and thoroughly enjoyed the trip initiated by Milo Cricket organiser Peter Mooney and his wife Yolanda.
To be able to set foot on the Sydney Cricket Ground and play some cricket on the hallowed turf is surely a once in a lifetime experience these fortunate youngsters will never forget.
