Congratulations to the Walcha Jockey Club on organising and running another very successful race meeting last weekend. There appeared to be a large crowd with the grounds well manicured and the weather fine.

The success of these events can only enhance Walcha's image and reputation.
There has obviously been some movement in the State Government with some portfolios and Ministers that have influenced Walcha over the years being rearranged. Hopefully Government policy has been reassessed and Councils can move forward and implement our priorities. It was good to see Adam Marshall gain tourism. Adam is a dedicated and approachable politician and having his backing in that area can only auger well for our Joint Organisation and Council.
Regional Development Australia Northern Inland is running workshops on digital up skilling. Walcha Council has been included in this program. This will aid participants to benefit from the Internet and is available to individuals, organisations and businesses. The course is free and would be valuable for those wishing to access customers digitally.
Walcha's Australia Day Committee once again organised a great breakfast to celebrate this occasion. Congratulations to all award recipients and our ambassador Ron Delezio was both inspiring and interesting. How people can turn adversity into action still amazes me. His family’s story is one of much sadness, but tremendous triumphs as well.
Rebel Thomson, executive officer of the Namoi Joint Organisation of Councils was in Walcha last week as she continues to liaise with the member Councils and develop our way forward. With a full time EO and legislation almost in place we should begin to reap the benefits of this organisation.
