We took to the streets this week to find out what local residents think about the proposed IGA development on Fitzroy Street.
Hamish McLaren: "I think it is good but I'm worried about the vacated premises staying empty."
Sue Partridge: "I am for it but I don't know if they really need to keep the old craft shop building."
Lance Partridge: "It's progress but I hate seeing an empty building in the main street."
Julie Olrich: "I am all for it but I am worried about an empty retail space in the building where they are currently located."
Erika Syrjanen: "I own the commercial building next door to the proposed site and I think the additional car parking space will be great."
James Rogers: "I am in favour of the development as long as the facade is sympathetic to the existing feel of the town and public space is maintained."
Julie Bird: "I am undecided because I am worried about the existing site remaining vacant."
Kylie Marchant: "I think it is a good thing because it will provide the town with upgraded shopping facilities."
Shelley Relf: " I am undecided because I am worried about the potential diversion of pedestrian traffic away from the main shopping area."
Damien Timbs: "I think it is fantastic because a development of this size will have a multiplier effect on the town and our prosperity."
