The Walcha branch of the NSW Farmers Association met on Monday, March 20 to elect a new leadership team at its annual general meeting.

The meeting was attended by NSW Farmers board member and Guyra grazier James Jackson who reinforced the importance of the grassroots committees within the association.
“It is critical that we have these structures in the bush to feed into the lobbying level which sits in the big city,” he said.
Following the meeting, and her election for a fifth term as Walcha chapter chair, Sonia O’Keefe said the two main issues addressed by the group during the past year were telecommunications and the imminent introduction of the new Native Vegetation Legislation.
“Walcha Council and the NSW Farmers are still actively working towards better outcomes since the meeting we held in Walcha last year to highlight the enormous telecommunication problem that rural and remote residents face,” she said.
“The new Native Vegetation Legislation will be a big test for the NSW Government to with engage farmers.”
