With a fantastic pasture sowing season in full swing, the new seed treatment machine from Germany could not have arrived at a better time.
Seed treatment operator Kyle Goodwin said since the installation of the equipment in March, Walcha Vets Supplies has treated and delivered more than 10 tonnes of pasture seed with a total value of around $100,000.
Mr King said seed was treated offsite in Armidale or Tamworth previously which was inconvenient for both the business and the customer.
“Seed treatment is not going to go away and has improved greatly overseas and here as well,” he said.
Mr King said he purchased the machine for $55,000 and while it will take a long time to get the money back, he believes it is a side of the business which will only continue to grow.
“We are currently treating the seed with insecticide but if there is a demand we can treat seed with a fungicide when required and fertiliser hormones.”
It was like trying to assemble a giant Meccano set without instructions.
