The local club were presented with Mountain Bike Australia’s National Event Organiser of the Year at the Annual Achievement Awards last month for their efforts in hosting rounds three and four of the cross country series held in January at SportUNE.
“Holding the rounds was really special and to be formally recognised by Mountain Biking Australia, just capped off all the positive feedback we received from everyone,” club president Peter Hosking said.
“This couldn’t have occurred without the continued support from UNE, Armidale Regional Council and our local member of parliament, Adam Marshall.”
The university trails have also been announced as the venue for the State Championships on November 28.
This will be the first time that NEMTB has held a Championship.
MTBA chief executive Shane Coppin said the region has proved to be a real growth market for mountain biking thanks to the work of the club and other valuable stakeholders.
“NEMTB is one of the most passionate clubs in the country. We saw what a great event they held during our national series, and are once again pleased to be able to work with them to help promote the sport even more.”
