The final round of the competition was played last Thursday at the Guyra Golf Course.
Leading by 35 points going into the last round, the Walcha team held on to win by 25 points after they scored 233 points to give them an overall four round total of 956 points.
Runners-up were Guyra 931, followed by Armidale Green 870, Armidale Blue 857 and Uralla 835.
A total of 70 players registered to play last Thursday with 22 from the Walcha club where the seven best scores making up the team total carded by Simeon Cross 37 points, Col Berry 36, Cheryl McDonald 35, Doug McDonald 33, Warwick Hogan 31 on a countback from Neil Dark 30.
Ladies long drive was caressed by Penny King, NTPs went to Doug McDonald (7) and Barbara Mulligan (9) while Vicki Heffernan won the raffle.
During recent years the Jock Nivison trophy has been played for by all Walcha veterans and is presented to the player who accumulates the most points over the four rounds of the annual New England Pennants competition.
The 2017 winner was Doug McDonald on 146 points from his wife Cheryl and Crichton Barr who scored 129 points each.
It was the first time since 1999 Walcha has won the competition.
Before that they won it in 1997.
