AS league tag halves are 25 minutes in duration, the Jillaroos went better than a point a minute, racing in five tries of which four were converted. The victory was a big turnaround from their previous performance where the girls failed to register a point in the opening stanza against Bendemeer.
BY full-time, the Jillaroos had racked up 40 points, with all 16 members of the squad playing their part in the victory, which might not have seemed the case, reading the score sheet. A total of 30 of those points came from two players - Rhiannan Moran (18) two tries and five goals, along with Lacey Latham, who scored an impressive hat trick of touchdowns.
Mighty Roos
“Dizzy” was rewarded for his efforts with the players’ player award and three club best and fairest points. How he didn’t get any group points is beyond me...
ROOS fullback Steve Eveleigh certainly had a day out at Manilla, scoring four tries, three of them in the first half. “Dizzy” was rewarded for his efforts with the players’ player award and three club best and fairest points. How he didn’t get any group points is beyond me, but that is only something referee Bruce Fulloon can explain.
UNFORTUNATELY for the Roos, the player who did receive the three group points, halfback Dean Turner was forced to leave the field 13 minutes into the second half after his knee buckled under him for the second time in the game.
DON’T worry, Dean Turner had played well up until then, but when he was informed he was voted Man of the Match, he just shook his head while mentioning “Dizzy” Eveleigh should have got it.
Ram rampage
WELL done to the Walcha Rams on their 54-17 win over the other Rams in the Central North Competition against Barraba here at the Park last Saturday. The Rams remain in second position on the points score ladder, six points behind Pirates.
THIS Saturday, they travel to Moree to take on the Bulls who are currently in third position behind the Walcha Rams.

Golfing feat
THE majority of the Walcha golfers who represented our club at the Manilla Open returned home victorious with prizes last Sunday. Walcha club president Allan Green and captain Willy Brennan were runners-up in the nett after producing the best Walcha score of the weekend of 45 stableford points.
THE front nine winners were Neil Dark and Don Brooks; runners-up on the front nine were Simeon Cross and Steph Sweeney. The back nine winners were Mal Ballard and Bob Denniss, and runners-up were Liam Brennan and Peter Norbury, while Walcha’s Owen Presnell and Jon Izzard snared a sweepstakes ball each.
THE only Walcha duo to miss out on a prize at the Manilla Open were Barry Hoad and Col Berry after they missed at on a sweepstake ball by just one point.
