Completion of the Bergen Bridge, which was scheduled for mid-June, has been delayed owing to wet weather.

“The Bergen Bridge widening is progressing very well,” said Walcha Council director of engineering Dylan Reeves.
“The bridge construction work is now complete with the guard rail installed on the opposing side of the bridge widening.”
Mr Reeves said the in-situ deck pour had been successfully completed and was now in a curing period.
“The concrete must reach 28 days prior to opening to traffic,” he said.
“Local Government Engineering Services have been engaged to complete the approach designs to the bridge, which are currently being constructed.The works are progressing well, with Council’s final trim crew close to arriving on site to complete the project.”
Finishing crews will complete the pavement widening works on either side of the bridge to improve visibility and manoeuverability of heavy vehicles. The bridge is expected to be open mid July.
