The couple were given a luncheon send-off by more than 40 members of the Nowendoc community on Saturday in the local hall.
Mr and Mrs Higgins moved to Weegoona when they first married and raised three children on the property.
Both were very involved in the close-knit Nowendoc community. Mr Higgins was recently recognised for 55 years of service as a trustee of the Nowendoc Recreation Trust and Mrs Higgins has been a long-term member of the local CWA.
The couple are both keen horse riders and were great supporters of the Nowendoc Bushman’s Carnival and Pony Club, as well as the Nowendoc Public School, Nowendoc Church, Memorial Hall and Tennis Club.
Mrs Higgins has also served as president for the Walcha Garden Club. The garden at Weegoona is wonderful and no doubt the garden of their Walcha home will be too.
