Rams v Reds
FOLLOWING their well-earned rest last Saturday after they received a bye in the opening round of the Central North Tier 1 competition, the Walcha Rams head to Gunnedah this Saturday to take on the Red Devils in a bid to keep their current second position on the ladder in tact. Pirates currently lead the comp on 50 points followed by the Rams 44, Moree 39, Scone 30 and Gunnedah 24.
Par excellence
A COUPLE of former Walcha Golf Club members – Tim Stackman and Warren Wall – were welcome visitors last Sunday when the monthly medal round was played. Multiple Walcha A grade champion Tim shot a three over par 73 to take out the scratch event. Tim also managed to take the A grade mug with a 68 nett.
“WOODY”, on the other hand, must be still hitting the ball pretty well, as he hit off a handicap of 8.

Maximum results
ROOS front rower Max Abraham was rewarded for his five-star performance last Saturday against Bingara with three group best and fairest points, three club best and fairest points and players’ player. The big fella made ground every time he touched the ball with the highlight of his day’s play a 50 metre run which resulted in a try under the sticks. Well done Max, keep up the good work.
THE Group 4 Second Division semi-final positions are all up for grabs, although Kootingal do have an advantage leading the competition on 28 points followed by Barraba 24, Bendemeer 22, Manilla 21, Bundarra 21, Uralla 19 and Boggabri 18.
THE remaining four teams – Dungowan 15, Werris Creek 14, Walcha 11 and Bingara 4 – can start planning their end of season trips.
ROOS player Hugh McCormack looked lonely sitting on the bench at Bingara last Saturday simply because he was the only Walcha Roos squad member there. Well done to the 14 local players who did turn up last weekend and who put in a whole-hearted performance. Good on ya, boys.
