The 73-year-old finished 626th out of 4452 competitors while his son Robbie ran 262nd overall and 24th in the 40-44 year age group in 41 minutes 30 seconds. Good on ya, boys.

Rams v Reds

FOLLOWING their well-earned rest last Saturday after they received a bye in the opening round of the Central North Tier 1 competition, the Walcha Rams head to Gunnedah this Saturday to take on the Red Devils in a bid to keep their current second position on the ladder in tact. Pirates currently lead the comp on 50 points followed by the Rams 44, Moree 39, Scone 30 and Gunnedah 24.

Maximum results

ROOS front rower Max Abraham was rewarded for his five-star performance last Saturday against Bingara with three group best and fairest points, three club best and fairest points and players’ player. The big fella made ground every time he touched the ball with the highlight of his day’s play a 50 metre run which resulted in a try under the sticks. Well done Max, keep up the good work.

THE Group 4 Second Division semi-final positions are all up for grabs, although Kootingal do have an advantage leading the competition on 28 points followed by Barraba 24, Bendemeer 22, Manilla 21, Bundarra 21, Uralla 19 and Boggabri 18.

THE remaining four teams – Dungowan 15, Werris Creek 14, Walcha 11 and Bingara 4 – can start planning their end of season trips.

ROOS player Hugh McCormack looked lonely sitting on the bench at Bingara last Saturday simply because he was the only Walcha Roos squad member there. Well done to the 14 local players who did turn up last weekend and who put in a whole-hearted performance. Good on ya, boys.
